While looking for some quality content for today's Throwback Thursday post, we were fortunate enough to stumble across this post from Ford's Instagram page. Today, they featured a close-up of @mustang.marie's beautiful 1955 Thunderbird.

The Thunderbird debuted in 1955, and, despite its sporty appearance and capable engine, was marketed as a personal luxury car, not a sports car. Though interest eventually waned, the Thunderbird was popular for quite a while, and was continuously manufactured for more than 40 years, and ten generations. After a five year hiatus, the Thunderbird reemerged for another stint in 2002 before being retired for good in 2005.
