In building the 2015 Ford F-150, the Blue Oval dramatically changed the rules of the half-ton pickup truck game it has lorded over for nearly four decades. Constructed of lightweight material, including a steel frame and aluminum chassis, it's one of the most state of the art trucks on the road. But what did it take to build it?

A whole lot of ingenuity on one heck of a tight schedule, as fate would have it. To build the new F-150, Ford had to undertake a radical redesign of the Dearborn Truck Facility in Michigan. In order to ensure minimum impact to sales, the entire process was scheduled for just eleven weeks. It was quite the challenge, but Ford was more than up to the task.
