Ford Motor Company recently announced the new power output for the redesigned and reconfigured 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine of the brand new 2017 Ford F-150. Ford is preparing to launch the new truck this fall and the the newly configured engine is set to replace the 3.5-liter EcoBoost that debuted back in 2009. This grants the new F-150 a bump in horsepower and a massive spike in torque that outshines every other half-ton pickup on the market, gasoline or diesel.
The new V6 is twin-turbocharged to bring the driver 375 horsepower and a jaw-dropping 470 lb.-ft. of torque. We’re talking about 10 horsepower and 50 lb.-ft. more than the closest 3.5 liter V6. The F-150 Raptor features the high-output version of this engine, which brings the driver up to 450 horsepower.
Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that was co-developed with General Motors, the 2017 F-150 is going to be the optimal blend of power and handling when it comes to trucks. The Ford Motor Company has yet to reveal information about the tow rating or fuel economy of the new F-150, but most expect both these numbers to improve.
The F-150 has a plethora of close competitors, but nobody can quite keep up with the F-Series, America’s favorite brand of trucks. The Chevy Silverado edges out the F-150 when it comes to horsepower but pales when you compare the 460 lb.-ft. of torque as compared to the 470 lb.-ft. of torque in the 2017 F-150. The EcoDiesel of the Ram 1500 only grants drivers 240 horses and 420 lb.-ft. of torque from under the hood.
Malloy Ford can’t wait to see you this fall when you pick up your brand new 2017 Ford F-150!
