As Valentine’s Day rolls closer, romance is in the air. Don’t just focus all that love on your significant other, save some of that love for your vehicle. Your car, truck, or SUV doesn’t need chocolates, flowers, or even a kiss on the cheek. Like anyone else, your vehicle just needs attention. A little love and tenderness go a long way when it comes to keeping your vehicle on the road for a long time going forward. If you plan on taking your lover out on the town this Valentine’s Day, make sure you have a vehicle that you can rely on. By keeping up with this preventative maintenance, you can be sure that your car will run smoothly during your hot date. Imagine if your car breaks down on the way to dinner or the movies, that would surely be a dealbreaker. Prevent that from happening by giving your car the attention and maintenance it needs.

  • Switch out the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or three months, or however often the owner’s manual states. Frequent oil and filter changes will keep your engine clean on the inside and running smoothly.

  • Check out your tire pressure at least once a month and this includes the spare. The tires of your car affect every single thing about it; from the ride to the handling to the wheel traction to the overall safety of the vehicle.

  • Schedule a tune-up at least once a year to make sure your car’s performance is optimized and at peak performance. A well-tuned engine grants the driver an excellent balance of power and fuel efficiency. A vehicle that is tuned up right also produces the lowest level of emissions.

  • You should also alignment checked annually at least. Potholes and various other road conditions, as well as normal wear and tear, can take their toll on your car’s steering and suspension. A solid wheel alignment reduces tire wear, increases fuel efficiency, aids handling, boosts drivability, and keeps you safe.

  • Don’t forget to check out the windshield wipers and lights on your car as well. Lights and wipers play a huge role in driver safety. They are a couple of items that need replacement from time to time.

Make this Valentine’s Day a good one by ensuring you can count on your vehicle to get you and your better half where you need to be!
